Lyrics

In the summer when I was seventeen
I fell for a cool jazz musician
He’d play me grooves from those old-time greats
And I would sit and listen.

He had a favorite record
But the last note fell a little flat
And he said each time that he heard that song
He kept hoping it wouldn’t end like that.

CHORUS:
And love, just for the record
Though the years have dimmed your face
Your words have stayed here with me
Some things time can’t erase.

And so they passed, those summer days
You knew that I couldn’t stay
But when time came to say goodbye
You just turned and walked away.

It’s a bittersweet old love song
But the last note fell a little flat
And each time I play the vinyl in my memory
I keep hoping it wouldn’t end like that.

CHORUS

THE VOTE SONG is intended as a rally song. Infused with an engaging reggae beat and a powerful chant, it is an upbeat call to action -- simple, legal, peaceful and realistic action: Just vote! While the song enumerates many of the problems we face these days, it is intended to provide an inspiring alternative to despair.
It is my passionate hope that this song will motivate at least a few people to turn their outrage into hope, and "get out there and vote!"
