Lyrics

Shy boy in an uptown bar
You could tell in just a glance
Had his eyes on that dark haired girl
But he didn’t stand a chance
Each time a song would start
Another guy made an advance
So on a lark, when the music stopped
He asked that girl to dance.

CHORUS:
And she said, “Alright,
I’m up for something new.”
Then she smiled and asked,
“What are we dancing to?”

(SPOKEN) And he said…. “It’s a slow one.”

So they danced on the empty floor
To a song inside his head
Don’t know if she heard it too
But she followed as he led.
By the time the band came back
They really didn’t care
They just kept on dancing
As if no one else was there

CHORUS:
And it felt so right
Oh it felt so right
Whatever song they played
Was their song that night.

BRIDGE:
Hey, shy boy, maybe you’re not so shy.
Shy boy, I can see it in your eye.

Now there are some things
That a woman can’t mistake
And there are some things
That a man can never fake
So with her foot, upon the floor
She drew a line from left to right
Saying “If you cross this line,
You’re coming home with me tonight.”

(SPOKEN) “He crossed the line.”

CHORUS:
And it felt so right
Oh it felt so right
Whatever song they played
Was their song that night.

BRIDGE:
Hey shy boy, maybe you’re not so shy
Shy boy, I can see it in your eye
Shy boy, you’re really not that shy
Who needs a lot of words, when you’ve got fire in your eye.

(tag) Who needs a lot of words, when you’ve got fire in your eye.

THE VOTE SONG is intended as a rally song. Infused with an engaging reggae beat and a powerful chant, it is an upbeat call to action -- simple, legal, peaceful and realistic action: Just vote! While the song enumerates many of the problems we face these days, it is intended to provide an inspiring alternative to despair.
It is my passionate hope that this song will motivate at least a few people to turn their outrage into hope, and "get out there and vote!"
