Lyrics

Sometimes when I’m walking down the road
I see a little cottage, like something that I’ve known
In a dream, or maybe just a wish
That house keeps calling…

Roses tangled ‘round a covered porch
Where two old chairs are watching the seasons take their course
And that old house keeps calling out to me:
“You should’ve been here.”

CHORUS:
All I ever wanted was wildflowers in the yard
Reminding me of beauty when life comes down too hard
A pair of laughing eyes, a hand to hold
When I go walking.

Sometimes when the sun is sinking low
Lighting up that cottage with a fleeting golden glow
I hear whispers of a truth I need to know:
“I should’ve been here.”

But we lived in a big house with walls of glass and stone
Where marble hallways echoed the sound of all alone
And I waited for your heart to come back home
You should’ve been there.

CHORUS:
All I ever wanted was wildflowers in the yard
Reminding me of beauty when life comes down too hard
A pair of laughing eyes, a hand to hold
When I go walking….
When I go walking…..
When I go walking, walking down the road.

THE VOTE SONG is intended as a rally song. Infused with an engaging reggae beat and a powerful chant, it is an upbeat call to action -- simple, legal, peaceful and realistic action: Just vote! While the song enumerates many of the problems we face these days, it is intended to provide an inspiring alternative to despair.
It is my passionate hope that this song will motivate at least a few people to turn their outrage into hope, and "get out there and vote!"
